Unexplained Adaptations
Who are the experts?
The 2018 accounts qualification, given by our auditors, references "adaptations" to the figures in the accounts that as yet remain unexplained.
Our auditors are qualified professionals specialising in the preparation and validation of financial statements on which they then give an opinion. They are experts in their field and yet, at the insistence of the Junta delegates, the numbers in the accounts were changed.
The auditors note this in their audit statement.
"Having examined all this documentation and analyzed the Final Balance, I can say that it truly reflects the expenses and income that occurred during the 2018 fiscal year, with the exception that some of the items have been adapted to the delegates' indications, since according to them, they have a better understanding."
This statement gives rise to a genuine concern about the 2018 accounts. The figures have been adjusted to present a view that differs materially from that shown when the accounts were first prepared by the financial experts. This rather begs the question as to what was changed, and perhaps more importantly, why?
There was no reference made to any of these unexplained "adaptations" in the Treasurer's report given at the AGM. No reasons for modifications were given. Can we therefore trust the numbers as they currently stand?
